Whenever this time of the year comes around I can’t help myself but go all out and get very festive. It may just be nostalgia, but I really enjoy decorating my flat, having traditional Christmas cookies and thinking back of what Christmas was like when I or my children were little. Advent calendars are quite a thing in Germany and they always have been. When I was little, they were made out of paper and every little door you opened revealed a tiny picture of Santa Claus (or Nikolaus, as we called him were I grew up), a snowy scenery, or Baby Jesus in his little manger.
The advent calendars I made for my children contained sweets, little toys, chocolate and other fillers, which I put into little boxes or sacks.
This year I have decided to make an advent calendar for you too!
Make sure you pop in regularly in order not to miss anything!
Merry Christmas to you all!
